CHRISTIAN DAHL

Christian Dahl is the Head Coach of the U18 team at Black Bear National Academy, where he brings passion, experience, and a player-first approach to developing young athletes.

A native of St. Peters, Missouri, Dahl is a former defenseman who played at the junior, college, and professional levels, known for his grit, consistency, and leadership. His playing career laid the foundation for a coaching philosophy centered on structure, accountability, and overcoming adversity. Dahl emphasizes constant growth-on and off the ice-and encourages his players to treat every shift, practice, and decision as a chance to improve. More than just a coach, he serves as a mentor, focused on helping his athletes become better competitors, students, and people.

Under his leadership, the U18 program is committed to building not only elite hockey players but also future leaders ready for the challenges of the game and life beyond it.

SPENCER LOANE

Spencer Loane stands at the intersection of scouting, coaching, and player development, driven by a deep commitment to understanding and advancing the game of hockey.

He serves as the Associate Head Coach at Black Bear National Academy, bringing experience across youth and junior hockey. Loane currently works as an Area Scout with the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) and has previously scouted for the Chicago Steel (USHL) from 2020-2023, evaluating high-level prospects across Tier 1 leagues and national events.Originally from Chicago, Loane’s coaching background includes roles at the U16 and U18 levels with Black Bear National Academy, as well as time with Team Illinois U16 AAA as an Assistant Coach in 2022-23. He has also worked as a Video Coach with the Utah Outliers, supporting players and staff through systems analysis and tactical video work.

He is also the founder of Loane Hockey, a video-based player development service which remotely focuses on improving Hockey IQ and on-ice performance through film work.
